We woke up this morning, our Monday off work, to some clear skies and cool breezes. We were glad that the storm had moved on so that we could enjoy our third and final day of "Stay-cation" in the city. As we headed out into the city we quickly became aware of how powerful the storm had been yesterday. Building sites were flooded, street-side businesses had been blown away/over, and many large trees had been uprooted and came crashing down all over the city. We quickly became aware that this storm was unique to the locals, too, because at every downed tree, a crowd had gathered to assess the scene and talk -- loudly! (No, no ... don't worry, the downed power lines had just been pulled off to the side of the road or draped over another set of lines. We were hoping there was enough sense to turn them off, at least, but no guarantees in Vietnam).
As the city began to clean up after the crazy weather, we made sure to stay out of the way by enjoying another delicious breakfast out, drinking Irish coffees in the middle of the morning, shopping for new glasses, eating a delicious street-stall lunch, checking out the view from the newest, tallest building in Vietnam, and of course, enjoying afternoon fro-yo. We feel glad for the extra day away from work and even more glad that the storm spared the city and it's people any major destruction or damage.

One of the many downed trees in the city. This one is over a major moped thoroughfare. Don't worry, the bikes just pushed by it. |

Heidi's breakfast sandwich. It claimed it was a chicken-salad sandwich. Literally, chicken breast with a salad on top. Brilliant! |

Perhaps our new favorite cafe in Saigon. To get there, drive your bike through an art store, park in someone's "yard" and then walk up the stairs! So good we went two days in a row for breakfast. |

At a new coffee cafe. Reading and relaxing. |

The view of Ho Chi Minh City from 50 floors up. |

Observing at the observation deck. |

We actually first visited this frozen yogurt shop in 2009 when we visited Vietnam. It is impressive that it is still open 3 years later. |
