About once every week or so we order water to be delivered to our apartment. This water order is straight forward enough, but still the steps are kind of funny. First we send a text message in Vietnamese (google translation, thank you!) to our delivery guy's cell phone. The message is usually pretty vague, saying "please, water to us, sometime after 6. Thank you!!" Next comes the waiting game. Since the water delivery man speaks zero English and our Vietnamese is limited to less than full sentences, we never know if he actually is going to show up or not, and so we wait in thirsty anticipation. Since the delivery time is vague by our message, sometimes the water shows up at 6:00pm, sometimes at 8:00pm, and once at 10:45pm. In reality we can't complain about our system. It is pretty sweet deal to have someone deliver two 21 liter jugs of water to your door for a total of $1.25.
The best part of the water delivery is not only the salvation from dehydration, but the water pressure of a freshly cracked 21 liter jug of water. Holy smokes, nothing fills a glass faster than that 21 liters of pressure. Our water delivery routine is just another great and quirky part about Vietnam that we love so much.
21 liters of water pressure in all of it's glory! |
Adam loving life and filling a water glass in .25 seconds thanks to the water pressure of a freshly cracked jug. |
