Well, pour the celebratory coffee and get ready to cheers. Why? We just successfully completed the first day of school for the 2013-2014 academic year. Minus Adam's sore throat, a lot of going over school policy, and consuming too many M&M's to count and Heidi's bruised shins, peed on pants (a student's pee ... not hers) and a hyperventilating teacher to talk off a ledge, we came home in one piece and with happy hearts.
While this place we live continues to be a challenge (please send patience our way, Oh Great Spirit) we do really love our jobs and do believe that we made the best possible decision to join the ranks of teachers/educators around the world. While we might be uncertain of the place, we are sure of our abilities to connect with youth and engage with them in their educational process. That is what will carry us through the next 170 educational days (well that and the fact that our first trip is only about 40 days away). 2013-2014 ... here we go now.

"Hurry up and take the obligatory picture, Heidi. It's 6:30 am and 103 degrees." - Adam |
